Whale Watching City Break

Whale Watching City Break

Looking for the best whale watching trip? Splash out on an Iceland whale watching holiday and search for the world’s largest inhabitants in the pristine waters off of Reykjavik.

This popular package includes flights, accommodation and a half day whale watching tour with specialists Elding for the day after your arrival (day 2).  You will be picked up from your Reykjavik hotel and then set sail from the old harbour to Faxafloi Bay, a stunning bottle of water with great views of Mount Esja on a clear day.

Whale sightings are not guaranteed, but occur on 98% of the tours, with Minke and Humpback whales the two most typically spotted.  Although the whales are the number one stars on the trip, Puffins and Guillemots are often spotted.

The Whale Watching City Break makes for a romantic holiday or great family adventure and allows for plenty of free time for other activities. We recommend the Golden Circle tour which visits several of Iceland's natural highlights like the geothermal Geysir area and thundering Gullfoss waterfall. For the adventurous, horse riding and glacier walking are popular activities set in stunning scenery.

  • To book, choose "Whale Watching City Break" from the drop down menu.
  • Special offer: Book the Whale Watching City break and you will receive a complimentary 24-hour Welcome Card from Visit Reykjavik. This card entitles you to free public transportation on Reykjavik's bus system, complimentary entrance into seven geothermal pools in Reykjavik and many of Reykjavik's top museums. The card can be picked up at the Visitor Information Centre. For more information on the card visit www.visitreykjavik.is and www.facebook.com/visitreykjavik

If you are looking for the ultimate whale watching holiday, the waters off the north coast of Iceland will not disappoint.  Home to Blue, Fin, Humpback and Minke whales, this is the setting for our Whale Watching City Break in Akureyri.
