Bicycles as Baggage

Bicycles can be accepted as checked baggage if:

• bicycle is in bag or personal box
• handlebars are turned parallel to frame
• pedals are removed

Maximum size in inches: 87L x 40W x 22D (in centimeters: 221L x 102W x 56D). Bicycles are accepted as checked baggage for a flat rate.

Flat rate per one way journey:

• Within Europe $35 or equivalent amount in other currency
• To/from USA $70 or equivalent amount in other currency

Please note this flat rate is only valid on Icelandair flights.

Ski Equipment as Baggage

Snow/skiing equipment may be included in the free baggage allowance. One set of snow/skiing equipment is allowed per passenger, and any excess is subject to excess baggage charges. One snow skiing equipment consists of either:

• one pair of skis, one pair of boots, one pair of poles
• one snowboard and one pair of boots

Golf Equipment as Baggage

One set of golf equipment per passenger can be accepted as part of the free baggage allowance. If golf equipment weighs more than 25 kg over the free baggage allowance a flat rate is charged.

As the carriers liability is limited to a sum considerably less than the value of the above items, we strongly recommend to passengers intending to travel with such equipment to ensure that their home or travel insurance covers the replacement value of any valuable items of checked baggage.

Other Forms of Special Baggage

If you are travelling with windsurfing equipment, surfboards, vaulting poles, musical instruments, or any item that would be considered "Special Baggage," please contact Icelandair UK & Ireland. All of these items must be booked in advance and are not included in the free baggage allowance.
