The fifth edition of Sonar Reykjavik will take place at the architectural masterpiece Harpa Concert House from February 16th through the 18th 2017 and Icelandair is thrilled to be able to offer travel packages for the Sonar enthusiasts making the trip over to Iceland.
As in previous years, Sonar Reykjavik will take place on five stages at Harpa concert house with maximum distance of two minutes walk in between the stages. Beside the two main stages, Sonarclub (Silfurberg) and SonarHall (Nordurljus), Harpa's underground car park will yet again be transformed into the SonarLab nightclub. The new stage of SonarPub will continue to be part of the festival in 2017, while the seated hall of SonarComplex (Kaldalon) will bring you curious excursions into popular music, downtempo and experimental compositions.
In recent years more than 70 artists, bands and DJ's have performed each year at Sonar Reykjavik including Skrillex, Major Lazer, James Blake, Todd Terje, Paul Kalkbrenner, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Nina Kraviz, Elliphant, Yung Lean and Bonobo to name a few along with some of the most exciting and established artists and bands from the thriving Icelandic music scene like FM Belfast, Asgeir Trausti, GusGus, DJ Margeir, Sisy Ey plus many more.
Harpa Concert House is located in the heart of Reykjavik. The building was selected as one of the greatest concert halls of the new millennium by Gramophone magazine and named the best performance venue 2011 by Travel & Leisure magazine. Harpa also received the Mies van der Rohe architectural award in 2013, an award by some regarded as the highest honor a building can receive in Europe.
