Iceland's Ice Cave is a unique, innovative, man-made ice cave and tunnel located in a remote location high up on Langjokull, one of Iceland’s largest and most spectacular glaciers. With its remote location and large-scale development, there's nothing quite like it, stretching 1,640 feet (500 metres) deep into the ice at a location 4,134 feet (1,260 metres) above sea level. Imagine standing on a glacier stretching almost 2,000 feet (600 metres) below as you prepare to walk through its frozen heart! You'll start the day with a drive to scenic West Iceland, a stunning landscape impacted by the powerful activity of Langjokull Glacier. On our way to small village of Husafell, you'll pass by beautiful Hraunfoss waterfall. From Husafell we start our ascend to the Langjokull Ice Cap and start our snowmobile trip from the base camp at Jaki, on the west side of the glacier. After gearing up with all the necessary clothing, helmets and safety briefing, we ride across the glacier's vast snowy wasteland and marvel the incredible surroundings. Once at the Ice Cave, we literally walk down into the magnificent man-made Ice Cave beneath the Ice Cap. Your expert guide will take you on this fantastic journey to the icy netherworld deep within the glacier. Follow the cave through the illuminated interior of the glacier, viewing ice formations, smaller caverns and beautiful blue glacial walls. Tucked amid the glacial beauty, you'll discover chambers with exhibitions, sitting areas and even a wedding chapel!
After snowmobiling and exploring the ice cave we return to Husafell, where you have a chance to soak in the thermal swimming pool or relax in the hot tub and absorb the day's adventures. Truly a day to remember!
