2007

Icelandair Group, a descendant of Flugfélag Akureyrar, celebrated 70 years of flying in the company's hangar at Akureyri Airport on June 3, 2007. To mark the occasion, the company presented the Aircraft Museum with a Stinson Reliant aeroplane, exactly like the aircraft that arrived in Iceland in 1944. Icelandair Group now operates all around the world, embracing nine companies in the aviation and tourism sectors.

The group operates 19 Boeing aircraft and flies to 25 destinations in Europe and North America, with 160 flights every week. Three thousand employees work for Icelandair Group in the summer of 2007 and continued growth is expected in the near future.
