Flights for children

Flights for children

2003

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Icelandair set up a fund to give children with long-term illnesses or those living in special circumstances the chance to travel. The idea came from Peggy Helgason, who has worked for many years as a volunteer  at the children's hospital in Reykjavík. Every year the fund allows at least 20 children and their families to take a dream trip.  The program is financed by Icelandair and  their passengers  who donate frequent flier points or any currency  to the cause while on board.
